New Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to students, sponsors, tutors, and the academy. We recognise that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes prevent attendance, but we also respect the significant time and effort our tutors invest in preparing individualised lessons.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for all cancellations.

Another Opening Hours Change
As many of our regulars know Dru is having extensive treatment at The Christie. In view of this daily treatment we are having to adjust out opening hours again, the teaching staff and myself will be covering the desk during this time. Your patience and understanding are appreciated, I am sure you all can join me in wishing Dru well with the treatment and we look forward to him being back at the helm soon. If you currently have a lesson booked in a time we are now closed the l

What About Music in Lesson?
As an Academy while we have used traditional tutor or music books the errors this has promulgated in the following decision by Chris (our Music Director) and Dru (our Administrative director). Every student moves at their own speed. Irrespective of age or ability. Everyone will find an item or items they struggle with, or need extra work on. To introduce something new, while a student is still struggling with a previous concept is akin to building a house with an unstable f

Family Learning: Learn Together, Grow Together
Family learning is designed to bring music into the family experience. Parents can support their children's learning at home, bring music and song into many activities. A family learning lesson is priced at the standard rate and the teacher takes the additional role of facilitator or mentor. The family help each other, each member taking a part that they can play and feel a part of the activity. Each participant will require their own instrument, each is the same size. As ti

Covid Update Feb 2021
After what appears to be an age of doom, gloom, misery, suffering and ongoing issues it appears, tentatively, that there maybe an inkling of light. Not only have we got a hopeful prognosis of being able to reopen on/ by the 12th April but, with this announcement from the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) there may be a glimmer of further light for those students who we, and their sponsors, can agree that they fulfil the criteria. Some of our students have been unable t

One lesson, one note, one dream
There is something special about learning any musical instrument, but sitting down at a keyboard or a piano and knowing which notes to press, in what order, to make it sound good is something special. It all starts with one lesson, one note and one dream. After that it is staying focused, being consistent and making it happen one day at a time. To give a child the option of being a professional pianist, a professional piano teacher or to just have a gift of a skill which last

In Person Lessons are Recommencing
Hi It's Chris from Stalybridge Music Academy. From July 4th we are starting to re-open the Academy with a staged recommencement of lessons. To achieve this, within government guidelines, we need to adjust the timing of lessons to fit into rooms with opening windows. Before Covid-19 we used six rooms for lessons; currently we can use two with a third for backup. Previously lessons ran every 30 minutes, under current legislation we require a 15 minute gap for cleaning between e

Another Covid Update
Although our original plans were to open today given the definitions that were offered by the government for those businesses that should open today we feel that we do not fit within these guidelines. While we are a small business; our appointment system and the duration of the lessons being over 15 minutes, this puts us more in line with businesses due to open at the beginning of July, as technically we are service providers and not a shop. Providing the R rate has been main

Covid-19 - 4 weeks on
While there have been some terrible things that have occurred during this current crisis for us, having to close the physical doors on our business, forced separation from our colleagues and learners, loss of revenue, increased stress (for me, my cats trying to murder me because I'm at home too much lol) there are a few, and increasing, small beauties that are blooming and unfolding as we continue on. Parents able to listen to their children practice and play. More one on one
