Teacher's note: Make practice part of your daily routine.
Once you have decided to learn music it is a good idea to commit and make your goal official. You could tweet taking lessons at #stalybridgemusicacademy #stalybridge or post on any of the other social media accounts using the same hashtags. We will try and respond, you can tag our social media account by using @stalybridgemusicacademy on Facebook. Check the other platforms for our accounts (or message Chris) we are on most of them, and if we are not we soon will be on the one you are asking about.
One thing to remember is this is an educational program, you are learning something new, and this takes practice. "Too often, we fall into an all-or-nothing cycle with our habits. The problem is not slipping up; the problem is thinking that if you can’t do something perfectly, then you shouldn’t do it at all."
James Clear said that and he is absolutely right, you are not expected to be able to play it perfectly in a day or two, or even a week or a month. Things take time as you learn and grow in your understanding and abilities, but it will happen and you will improve. Take a leaf out of Lucas' book, send a photo or a 'Work in Progress' video to share every week. At the ended of the year we are happy to supply an 'Annual Practice' mp4 file. It is a great motivator and fun to look back on after Christmas dinner. Have you practised today?
