Why Choose Major Minor’s Music Academy?
Our sessions are grounded in the research-led Triquetrae Music Education Programme (TMEP). Rather than passive entertainment or synthetic backing tracks, every session offers an organic, multisensory acoustic environment tailored to early childhood development:
Multisensory Learning: Weekly colour anchors, child-safe natural aromas, and tactile wooden percussion.
Language & Speech Foundations: Classic nursery rhymes and rhyming couplets that build phonemic awareness and verbal memory.
Live Musicianship & Classical Listening: Live ukulele and voice accompaniment paired with focused listening to orchestral classics (Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Beethoven) to exercise young brains.
The "Musi-Zones" Framework: A clear, predictable session rhythm that balances high-energy physical movement with calm, grounded focus.
Meet Your Characters:
In week one join Major Minor, Forte the Elephant (Loud), and Piano the Rabbit (Quiet) and other characters on an imaginative musical journey through Greenhill each week.
Each week is complemented by online sing-a-long videos, stories and parent support blogs.
A Message from the Music Director
The programme is written and presented by Music Director Chris Caton-Greasley LLCM(TD) MA(Mus) for the first time since 2012.
"I am excited to be able to present this programme again so that this generation of children will be able to benefit from a fun, structured journey into music.
The programme was last presented at local independent nurseries and pre-schools across Tameside from 2007 to 2012. Back by popular demand; more dates and sessions will become available on request."
