Service Description

A person to person at our studio in Stalybridge For more details please see https://www.stalybridgemusicacademy.com/post/what-to-expect-in-a-person-to-person-lesson Piano lessons are designed to utilise the full range of the keys and to explore and use the clefs equally. Purely keyboard skills focus on a right hand melody with supporting chords in the left and lack dynamics due to the comparative inflexibility of the keyboard to express subtle changes in dynamics and tone. This can be an acoustic piano, a digital piano, an electronic piano or a keyboard. Lessons are given on a full size digital or acoustic piano. If a student would prefer, a keyboard can be used in the lesson, by arrangement, or you can bring your own keyboard (with batteries) to the lesson. Music theory is taught as part of the learning experience. A fifteen minute lesson is designed for one item or a student with a requirement for a short focus time. One Item > Sight reading > Aural test assistance > Single skill focus > Mock exam > Scales, arpeggios or chords only > Reinforcement, repetition or reminder of specific skill Short Focus Time > Neuro divergent mind with short term focus > Young person with focus limited by age > Student with focus limited by illness Peak time lessons include the option for a parent to learn with the young person. The lesson is directed to the young student and parents learn alongside and join in. A parent would require their own instrument, in the case of piano a keyboard would need to be brought to the lesson. Lessons are one to one, with a member of our team of teachers. You will have the same teacher for each lesson (except in illness). Parents (guardians, carer givers, grand parents etc ) are welcome to wait while lessons are taking place. All Music Academy teachers are EDBS checked and have completed an annual safe guarding course. All our full time tutors have qualifications from teaching diploma upwards. It is recognised that qualifications are not enough to maintain a high standard of teaching so a full in house professional development program is available for all tutors to maintain and increase their personal standards. Graded examinations for those who would like to participate and have the relevant ability. No discounted rates can be stacked. A Senior Citizen at off-peak times will be charged at £12, further reduction is not possible. Senior Citizens or Off-Peak Students who opt for the Standing Order Discount Scheme will benefi
