Not much makes my blood boil, but removing music from the school curriculum does. School, for me, was a waste of time, bar one thing; music.
Through music I fell in love with history, geography, maths and languages. The only quantifiable achievement from my school days was that I loved music and it was all I wanted to do, and all I did. School tried to tell me go into science, engineering etc... But eventually logic ensured music won.
Music expands possibilities, improves everything and is a vital part of education.
Here is a suggestion, scrap targets and focus on our children and young people, encourage creativity and diversity and then the targets that you struggle for today will be passed.
